Don’t put those Halloween costumes away ! Friday the 13th, our Thank You-charist celebrates all of our children’s ministries: Children’s Church, Sunday School and VBS.
We’ll hold this service on our new “back lawn”. Welcome kids (of all ages) in costumes. Bring blankets and chairs. There will be lights and a Fire Pit.
Under normal circumstances, an average of 12-15 students attend Children’s Church each Sunday which is held during the 10:30 a.m. service for about 45 minutes before rejoining “Big Church” for Communion. The lessons are from Spirit of the Season and follow the liturgy in “Big Church.” Children’s Church is for ages pre-kindergarten through third grade and provides an outlet for parents so they can enjoy the church service and provides children the opportunity to hear the liturgy in words they can understand.
Sunday School is provided for pre-K four-year-olds through fourth grade, between the 8am and 10:30 services under the direction of Debbie Anglin and youth assistant Olivia Hood. Bible stories and arts and crafts to emphasize the story are created each week. Attendance averages five students and allows parents to engage in adult Sunday School.
An average of 45-50 children attend Vacation Bible School in June. The hallways and classrooms are decorated to go along with the VBS theme. Crew leaders lead the children through the various stations – bible stories, arts and crafts, music, treasure hunts and games. A huge delegation of volunteers donate their time to help prepare for the week of VBS and work tirelessly to ensure the children have a memorable time. Unfortunately, this year’s VBS was cancelled but we look forward to next year’s adventure.
